Enhancing Workplace Wellness: A Health Coaching Programme with Soul

Recently, I had the privilege of conducting a transformative wellness program for jewellery and homeware company Soul Design whose co-owner Abi James approached me to find out how I could help them bring health transformation and habit change to support the staff in this successful local design business.

In this blog post, I will summarize the key highlights of the program, which included a two-week menu featuring blood sugar balancing recipes, all designed to nurture physical and mental well-being.

It all began when Abi and I spent some time discussing how she wanted to encourage bringing better nutrition into the workplace lunches, and provide her staff with the support and encouragement to help facilitate habit and behaviour change. This would provide a well rounded solution to improved mental & physical wellbeing, thus increasing productivity, and team dynamics.

Nourishing through food

At the start of  the program, I introduced a delicious and nutritious breakfast/lunch plan that was prepared from scratch in house by their talented chef, Patience. The focus was on providing the Sould Design team with healthy meal options that would fuel their bodies and minds, promoting sustained energy levels and enhanced focus throughout the day. These tasty recipes not only satisfied their taste buds but also nurtured them from within, fostering a sense of vitality and overall well-being.

Embracing movement

Recognizing the importance of an active lifestyle, I encouraged the team to incorporate more movement into their daily routines. Together with Abi, we inspired them to embark on a SOUL daily movement challenge, which motivated each individual to prioritize physical activity and pursue their fitness goals. A walk to work, a lunchtime swim in the nearby tidal pools, skipping challenges in the courtyard, challenging eachother to climb the impressive nearby Kalk Bay steps.  By integrating movement into the workday, the team not only experienced the physical benefits of improved health but also felt more connected, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

Visionning & Ongoing growth

The latest visit to Soul HQ incorporated a check in on how everyone was getting on, opportunity to share in a group and celebrate the wins and the challenges of implementing some habit change into their daily lives. Together, the team worked through a coaching exercise in their Healthy Life Plan, which culminated in bringing that wellness vision to life in a powerful vision board using magazine cuttings.

This was the start of Soul Design’s journey towards holistic health and well-being. I am thrilled to continue working with Abi, as a  further talk and check in is planned later this year, so that the team can continue to expand their own health knowledge, stay motivated and empowered to make healthier choices a day at a time. As I said my goodbyes, I could sense the company had solidified their new, ongoing commitment to cultivating a happy and harmonious workplace.

Conclusion

The health coaching program served as a catalyst for positive change within Abi’s business. By prioritizing the well-being of her team members and embracing healthy eating habits and movement, they are fostering a thriving work environment where each individual can reach their full potential. As they continue to work towards their own health goals, the team as a whole remains dedicated to nurturing a workplace culture that promotes a healthy and happy work/life balance, empowering each individual to excel both personally and professionally.
